Rs. 71 crore will be spent on the development of roads being widened now Those losing their buildings will be compensated with ‘Transferable Development Rights’
DEVELOPMENT PLANS: Regional Commissioner Rajneesh Goel presiding over a meeting of senior officials in Gulbarga on Monday. GULBARGA: Regional Commissioner Rajneesh Goel on Monday said that a detailed plan had been drawn up to widen important roads in Gulbarga city, and impediments were being removed to meet national highway standards. Presiding over the meeting of senior officials of the Public Works Department, the Gulbarga City Corporation, the Gulbarga Urban Development Authority, Town Planning, GESCOM, BSNL and the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board to finalise the road-widening procedure, Mr. Goel said that according to the line estimate prepared by Karnataka Road Development Corporation Ltd. (KRDCL), Rs. 3 crore would be spent on upgrading these roads to national highway standards. The administration had identified the road from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Chowk to Rashtrapati Chowk and the one from Rashtrapati Chowk to Ram Mandir for upgrading them to national highway standards. City corporation Commissioner S.P. Mudhol, who was present, said a plan had been prepared for spending Rs. 71 crore for the development of the roads being widened now. No let upMr. Goel made it clear that the present drive to remove impediments and encroachments on the four roads to be widened in the first phase and 26 other roads to be widened in the second phase would continue without any let up. The remaining roads in the city would be taken up in the third and the final phase of the operation. Roads that will be widened in the second phase are those from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Chowk to Goa Hotel (18 metres), Goa Hotel to Lalgeri Cross (15 metres), Lalgeri Cross to Aland Road Cross (18 metres), Aland Cross to KHB Colony (24 metres), KHB Colony to Ring Road (30 metres), Jagat Circle to Humnabad Base (18 metres), Jagat Circle to Market Circle (24 metres), Tirandaz Theatre to Saraf Bazaar Circle (15 metres), Aland Road Cross to Lal Hanuman Temple (15 metres), Ramn Mandir to railway under-bridge (30 metres), railway under-bridge to Mhan Lodge (24 metres), Margamma Temple to Filter Bed (24 metres), Filter Bed to Ring Road (24 metres), S.B. Temple Road to Jewargi Cross (15 metres), Humnabad Base to Ring Road (30 metres), Town Hall to Hospital Circle (18 metres), Hospital Circle to Ring Road (30 metres), Jewargi Cross to MSK Mill (30 metres), MSK Mill to Ring Road (30 metres), Dargah Road West to Darshanapur Layout (12 metres), West of Darshanapur Layout to Ring Road (18 metres), Sedam Road to Rajapur village (18 metres ), Rajapur village to Ring Road (30 metres), Ambedkar Hostel to Ring Road Cross (18 metres), Ring Road to Kusnoor village (18 metres, and Jagath Circle to Goa Hotel (18 metres). Mr. Goel said that those losing their buildings would be compensated with “Transferable Development Rights”.
