GULBARGA: The Kannada Sena on Monday demanded that the Union Government accord classical status to Kannada language with immediate effect.

Sena activists, under the leadership of their president Shivasharanappa Khanadal, staged a protest demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in the city and submitted a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the local authorities. — Special Correspondent
