CBI to intensify probe into Aarushi murder case

NEW DELHI: Having failed to meet the stipulated 90-day deadline for filing the charge-sheet in the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has now decided to speed up investigations into the high-profile case.

“The probe into the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder has been intensified with a view to wrapping up the case as soon as possible. The investigation is being carried out by the same team and there are no changes in its composition,” said CBI Public Information Officer R.K. Gaur.

Just a few days before the charge-sheet deadline, the CBI had on September 9 announced that it would do so only after completion of investigations and announced a reward of Rs.1 lakh to anyone providing clues leading to recovery of murder weapon and the mobile phones of the victims.

Young Aarushi, daughter of dentist Rajesh Talwar, was found murdered in her Sector 25 flat at Noida on May 16 and the body of the domestic help Hemraj was discovered on the terrace a day later.

The failure on the part of the CBI to file the charge-sheet led to the release of Mr. Talwar’s compounder Krishna; Raj Kumar, the domestic help of the dentist’s family friends the Durranis; and Vijay Mandal, who worked as a domestic help in the neighbourhood.
