Two killed as lorry rams tree, overturns

COIMBATORE: Two farmers died when the lorry in which they were travelling to Mettupalayam from the Nilgiris rammed a tree and overturned at Kallar in Mettupalayam taluk on Monday morning.

According to the police, nine farmers from Pannimara at Kalletty were heading for the Mettupalayam market with their produce when the driver lost control. The farmers were trapped under sacks of carrot. Nagaraj (45) died on the spot. Pappannan (50) succumbed to injuries in hospital. — Special Correspondent
