Kartik declared overall winner

CHENNAI: Kartik Shankar of TVS Girling Racing moved up the ranks to displace Vikram Saran as the overall winner of the Formula LGB Swift class for 2008 in the JK Tyre National racing championship.

Saran was stripped of his individual points accumulated over the season after race stewards did not take kindly to a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre in Sunday’s race that left four other race cars out battered out of contention.

Final standings: Formula LGB Swift: 1. Kartik Shankar (81 points), 2. Rayomand Banajee (48), 3. Prithveen Rajan (48). Winning Team: Wallace Sports (146).

Formula Rolon Chevrolet: 1. Gaurav Dalal (71 points), 2. Sarosh Hataria (56), 3. Akhil Khushlani (49). Winning team: Red Rooster (135).

Formula LGB Hyundai: 1. Sudanand Rajan & Prithveen Rajan (40 points), 2. Kartik Shankar & S, Narendran (34), 3. Siva Kumar & C. Rajaram (18). Winning Team: Rams racing (82).

Saloon Cup: 1. Mazdayar Vatcha (111 points), 2. Deepak P. Chinnappa (69), 3. Vir Raina.

Super Bikes: 600 cc: 1. Praveen Keerthi (92 points), 2. Gopinandhan (68), 3. Kathi Venkataraman (24). 1000 cc: 1. Mazdar Ahmed (105 points), 2. Alok Sashidhar (86), 3. Vikram V.
