Kiriti, Nikhat win titles

HYDERABAD: Krishna Kiriti of Postal and Nikhat Banu of Gujarati Seva Mandal won the men’s and women’s singles titles respectively in the eighth AWASA Anantha Narayan Reddy and Rameshwaramma memorial State-ranking table tennis tournament here.

Kiriti defeated A. Umesh Kumar (AWA) 11-7, 11-7, 11-5, 11-9 in the men’s final while Nikhat put it across Prasanna Kumari of South Central Railway 11-8, 13-11, 9-11, 10-12, 11-6, 11-1.

A good spell by N. Sunil Goud (six for five) helped Hyderabad Cricket Academy record a five-run win over Consult in the HCA Schools League cricket championship match here.

AP shooters for C’wealth Youth Games

Asher Noria and Kynan Chenai from Andhra Pradesh have been selected to represent India in the Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) to be held in Pune from Oct. 12 to 18.

Priya wins under-9 title

V.S.S. Priya won the girls’ under-19 title in the Ranga Reddy District chess championship here. Siri Hinduja Reddy was the runner-up. Four players namely R. Sriram and Kumar Natarajan, who were joint-winners in the boys under-19 category, and Priya and Siri Hinduja Reddy will represent the District in the State junior championship to be held soon.
