WITH A BIG HEART: A mural of cricketers done by Pushpa, mother of Rahul Dravid (second from left), at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Monday.

BANGALORE: It was a Monday afternoon that resonated with nostalgia as Karnataka players who represented the country and contributed to the State’s cricketing progress were honoured with their images embossed in the form of murals on the wall adjoining the player-entry gate at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Roger Binny, Venkatesh Prasad, Sunil Joshi, Sadanand Vishwanath, Dodda Ganesh and Sujith Somasundar were the second batch of players who found their cricketing vignettes preserved in a larger-than-life format on the walls inside the stadium. Binny and Ganesh were not present while the others tugged at the curtain.

Legends like G.R. Viswanath, B.S. Chandrashekar and E.A.S. Prasanna were earlier honoured with their murals a few years ago. Rahul Dravid’s mother Pushpa, who is a renowned artist, designed the murals that are a mix of terracotta and other ingredients.

Skipper Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid and KSCA officials were present at the function.
