COIMBATORE: The charred remains of a woman were found on Monday in a thatched shelter off the road that connected Makkinapatti with Chandrapuram in Pollachi in the district. Passersby noticed scattered bones and a skull on an open space that had been divided into housing sites and informed the police. Cut hair and half-burnt clothes helped establish that the deceased was a woman. DVDs seizedThe city police seized 1,245 digital video discs of new Tamil films from five persons in three separate seizures. Shanmughasundram (45) was spotted with a bag on Oppanakara Street by a police team. A search of the bag yielded 740 DVDs with pirated versions of latest films. The questioning of Devaraj (54) on the same down the street led to the seizure of 370 DVDs. Another police team arrested Shabir (28), Shajahan (32) and Ismail (30) while they were allegedly trying to sell DVDs at R.S. Puram.
