Tirupur: Members of Communist Party of India (Marxist) held a demonstration in front of the railway station here on Monday to press their demands.

The party members urged the revenue administration to take immediate steps to distribute free house site pattas to all the 2,000 families living on poromboke land in Wards 1 to 24 within the city limits for more than five years.

The agitators said people were eligible for house site pattas since they were paying property tax and had power connection to their respective houses.

The party men led by N Gopalakrishnan, town secretary, then handed over the applications of the residents seeking house site pattas to Tahsildar S. N. Sulochana.
