Host of programmes to mark Postal Week

KOCHI: The department of posts will observe October 9 as World Postal Day. Besides, the week starting from the day till October 15 will also observed as national postal week.

As part of the celebrations, a variety of programmes have been drawn up for students and customers of the postal department.

On October 10, to be observed as savings bank day, various programmes will be conducted to inform the public about the numerous business schemes of the postal department.

On October 11, to be observed as letter’s day, arrangements will be made for students to visit and study the day-to-day functioning at a post office. Besides, an innovative programme “postman walk” will be held on the same day for selected school students at the Ernakulam head post office and Edappally main post office at 9 a.m.

An essay competition on the topic, “an official day of a postman”, will also be conducted.

Students participating in the “postman walk” will be considered guests of the postal department for the day. They will also get the opportunity to learn about the working of the department and spent time with department staff.
