TIRUCHI: Engineering colleges from Chennai made a clean sweep at the two-day Anna University inter-zonal chess tournament conducted by the Anna University Sports Board and hosted by the Saranathan College of Engineering at Punjapur near here recently. The best eight teams from all the ten zones of Anna University, Chennai, took part in the tournament and they played four rounds among themselves. St. Joseph’s College of Engineering won the title by tallying a comfortable 13.5 points. The College of Engineering, Guindy, finished runner up with a tally of 10.5 and Velammal College of Engineering and Technology finished third by collecting 8.5 points. The tournament was inaugurated by the vice-president, Tiruchi District Chess Association, Madhusudhan. Principal of Saranathan College Y.
