FMSCI back in driving seat

Coimbatore: FIA’s World Motor Sports Council met in Paris on Tuesday and voted 19-3 in favour of restoring the sporting power back to the Federation of Motor Sports Club of India (FMSCI). Two members abstained from voting, while one did not turn up.

“Justice has prevailed,” said Rajat Mazumdar, FMSCI president, on the verdict. “Now that we are in the driving seat, we will go full throttle.”

He said the FMSCI always believed in one policy ‘to drive without the rear mirror’. “We believe in what we do. We never like to look back,” he told The Hindu.

Vicky Chandhok voiced similar feelings: “It took time, money and patience for us. Today, truth has prevailed.”

India was represented by Vijay Mallya, head of both FMSCI and Motor Sport Association of India, Prithviraj, FMSCI vice-president, and a team of eminent lawyers. — Sports Reporter
