Dry weather
NEW DELHI: RAINFALL: Rain/thundershowers have occurred at a few places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and east Uttar Pradesh, at isolated places in Haryana, Punjab, west Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. Weather was dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm are: HIMACHAL PRADESH: Bhunter 3 and Sundernagar 2, PUNJAB: Adampur and Pathankot 1 each, EAST RAJASTHAN: Udaipur city 3, EAST UTTAR PRADESH: Elginbridge 5, Basti, Birdghat, Gorakhpur, Turtipar and Uska Bazar 3 each, Balrampur, Bansi and Mukhlispur 2 each and Allahabad, Khadda, Kakrahi and Chadradeepghat 1 each and WEST UTTAR PRADESH: Sarsawa 1 and UTTARAKHAND: Joshimath 1.
TEMPERATURE: The maximum temperatures fell appreciably in Himachal Pradesh, fell in Jammu and Kashmir, west Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. They were appreciably above normal in Punjab and east Rajasthan and normal in the rest of the region. The highest maximum temperature in the region was 41.0º C recorded at Sriganganagar (Rajasthan).
The minimum temperatures fell in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and east Uttar Pradesh and changed little elsewhere. They were appreciably above normal in Haryana and east Rajasthan, above normal in west Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest minimum temperature in the plains was 18.0º C recorded at Lakhimpur Kheri (Uttar Pradesh).
FORECAST VALID UNTIL THE MORNING OF 9th October 2008: Rain/thundershowers are likely at at a few places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand and at isolated places in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.
