BANGALORE: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has expressed shock at the sudden demise of the former Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) State unit president Mirajuddin N. Patel. In a message, the Chief Minister said: “Mr. Patel who started his political career from Bidar gradually rose to become a State-level leader, including the State president of Janata Dal (Secular). In his death, the State has lost a popular leader who strived for public good. ” Bidar Staff Correspondent adds: Former Minister and Bidar South MLA Bandeppa Kashempur expressed grief over the demise of president of State unit Janata Dal (Secular) Merajuddin Patel on Tuesday. Speaking to The Hindu on phone, Mr. Kashempur said: “His demise is a big loss for the party, since he took everybody into confidence.” Former Basavkalyan MLA and Janata Dal (Secular) leader Mallikarjun Khuba said that Mr. Patel stood for the cause of farmers. MLC Ashed Ali termed Mr. Patel a secular person. Bidar district unit president of Janata Dal (Secular), Baburao Gudge said Mr. Patel was known for his secular image.
