Cash and gold stolen from temple hundi

Looted: Broken hundi at Shri Parshava Padmavathi Temple near Krishnagiri.

KRISHNAGIRI: A few unidentified persons gained entry into Shri Parsha Padmanabha Amman Temple situated on the Bangalore-Chennai NH near Sundampatti in Krishnagiri on Wednesday night and decamped with cash and gold by breaking open the temple hundi.

The hundi with gold-plated sheets on all four sides was closed with a granite stone.

The incident came to light when one of the six security guards posted for night duty discovered the open hundi on Thursday morning.

He immediately informed the temple committee member Mr. Rajkumar Jain who informed the police.

Amount

The exact amount stolen is not known.

Once in three months the temple authorities open the hundi and deposit the cash in bank. The hundi will have collections worth about 3 to 5 lakh every three months.

Kallikuppam police have registered a case and are investigating.
