Pradeep slams century

CHENNAI: A.G. Pradeep (111), D. Prabhu Kiran (98) and A. Veera Babu (five for 72) helped Andhra defeat Goa by an innings and 36 runs with a day to spare in a second-round South Zone under-22 four-day cricket match for the P. Ramachandra Rao Trophy.

In another encounter, left-arm seamer Sutheesh returned figures of five for 44 on Wednesday, as Tamil Nadu gained a 42-run first-innings lead. Shijit Chandran then made 102, adding 118 for the fifth wicket with V. Maaruthi Raghav (59), to widen the advantage. Kerala, set a target of 359, slid to 106 for four.

The scores: Goa 158 and 218 in 78.3 overs (Vidyadhar Kamat 52, A. Veera Babu five for 72) lost to Andhra 412 in 115.2 overs (D. Prabhu Kiran 98, V. Sandeep 47, A.G. Pradeep 111, T. Vamsi Krishna 55). Points: Andhra 6, Goa 0.
