CHENNAI: Electronic Money Order Service was launched at 160 post offices in the city on Friday.

According to a press release, a function was organised on Friday to inaugurate the service at the T.Nagar Head Post Office by Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Chennai City Central Division, R.Venkataraman.

In Chennai City Region, 160 Post Offices have been identified for booking and payment of eMOs.

In Tamil Nadu 633 post offices have been identified.

Electronic transmission of money order (eMO) facilitates transmission of money orders electronically among connected post offices registered as eMO offices. The remitter will use a pay-in slip instead of a money order form. Under this option, a single remitter can send eMOs to many payees at a time.

All the rules applicable for ordinary money order service are applicable to eMO, the release said.
