Sugarmill begins crushing

VILLUPURAM: The Kallakurichi Cooperative Sugarmill began crushing operation for the current sugar season (2008-09) on Friday morning. Special officer of the mill S. Valarmathi, who is also the district revenue officer, inaugurated the process.

She observed that it was proposed to crush 4.5 lakh tonnes of sugarcane for the season. Cutting orders had been issued to the farmers concerned.
