CHENNAI: Police on Friday morning recovered the body of a man who drowned in the tank of Kapaleeswarar Temple in Mylapore on Thursday. The victim aged around 40 was wearing white trousers and a yellow chequered shirt. A white towel similar to the one wound around Ganesh idols was wound around his head as a scarf. Police personnel, who were posted on Thursday night to patrol the tank, noticed something white bobbing in the water. Around 6 a.m. on Friday they entered the tank and recovered the body. It was sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for autopsy. On Thursday, Fire Service personnel had conducted a search for several hours in vain. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
