BANGALORE: It was not new for Murthy, a self-proclaimed sharp shooter to fire in inebriated state.

The police say that Murthy who had developed lands and constructed club houses in various parts of the country, used to exhibit his “shooting talent” at these club houses. “In an inebriated state, Murthy used to fire in the air or at water. On several occasions, he had fired at ornamental lamps at his club houses to display his shooting talent,” a police official said.

Murthy obtained a gun licence after getting ransom calls, and also sponsored a pistol to Babu.
