Udupi: An accused, who was lodged in the sub-jail at Karkala town in Udupi district, escaped on Saturday and is still absconding. Circle Police Inspector of Karkala T.R. Puttaswamy Gowda said on Sunday that the accused, Prasad, escaped from the sub-jail at around 8 a.m. on Saturday by removing the tiles of the toilet, and jumping the wall of the sub-jail. He has been accused of theft in many places including Sanur and Moodabidri. “The accused is still absconding and efforts are on to trace him,” he said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
