A drawing should be sent for preliminary round Entries should reach by November 3 VIJAYAWADA: Come November, it is time for the event that the children most eagerly look forward to -- The Hindu Young World Painting Competition. This year, the competition is being conducted in 14 centres. On November 29, the competition will be conducted at Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode, while on November 30 it will be organised at Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, New Delhi, Bangalore, Mangalore, Mysore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Tiruchirapalli. As usual, there is no entry fee or entry form for participating in the competition. All those interested in participating in the competition need only to send a drawing for the preliminary round to the centre that is nearest to their place of residence or to the centre where they would like to appear for the final on-the-spot competition. Two categoriesThe competition will be conducted in two categories – juniors and seniors. Students from Class IV to Class VII come under the juniors category, while those studying in Class VIII to class X come under the seniors category. The topics for the preliminary round for the junior category are: Sports day, In the zoo, Flying kites and Birthday party. For the senior category, the topics are: Watching a stage play, On a hill station, Bandh/Strike day and Environment day. Students, depending on their category, have to draw only one painting on any one theme given above on a white drawing sheet (26 cms X 27 cms), get it certified by the school principal or art teacher that it is the student’s own work and send it to the office of The Hindu by November 3. The student’s name, age, class, school and residential address should be written on the back of the entry. The preliminary round entries, along with two Booproo liquid filled bubble gum mono wrappers, should reach the office by November 3.
