Man arrested on molestation charge

CHENNAI: The Kumaran Nagar police on Saturday arrested a cab driver, who allegedly molested a speech-impaired young woman.

Police said Durai Babu (25) of Muthal Mayor Krishnamoorthy Nagar, Vyasarpadi, misbehaved with a 20-year-old woman, who was sleeping on a platform in Nallangkuppam on Saturday. Her mother Chellamma (40), who was sleeping nearby, raised an alarm.

Durai Babu fled the scene but was later apprehended by a night patrol team.

He was remanded to custody.

Booked under Goondas Act

Two anti-socials in Korattur were booked under the Goondas Act and lodged in the Puzhal Prison on Saturday.

According to police, Silambarsan (24) and Jose (24) of Pottuamman Kovil Street in Korattur, were involved in several crimes, including robbery, theft and house break-in in Korattur, Ambattur Estate and Thirumullaivoyal.
