Tiruvannamalai: A boy who was treated for poisonous bite at the Government Hospital here on Sunday, died later. According to sources, Mahalingam (15), son of Rajaram, a resident of Alathur near here, was brought to the hospital at 2 a.m. He was allegedly attended to by nursing staff, as the duty doctor was not present. The boy was given medicines and a shot of injection and sent home.But, his condition deteriorated and he was brought back at 5 a.m. He was administered drips but he died later. Subsequently his irate relatives staged a road roko alleging negligence on the part of the hospital staff. Police used mild force to disperse the crowd. The body was sent for post-mortem. According to Ramalingam, Joint Director (in charge), a report has been sent to the Director of Medical Services.
