Man, son drown in canal at Gajwel

SANGAREDDY: A man and his son drowned in a canal at Singatam village in Gajwel mandal here on Sunday evening. Efforts by people to save them proved futile.

According to the police, P Mallaiah (50) and his son Sayilu (14) went to the canal near the check-dam to graze the sheep. Sayilu drowned when he entered the canal for a swim. Mallaiah who tried to save him also drowned. Farmers who heard their cries for help also tried to save them but in vain.

The Gajwel police registered a case.
