Unique brand: Lounge Piranha performing in Bangalore on Sunday. Bangalore: Lounge Piranha, a post rock band, on Sunday launched its first album, “Going Nowhere”. The launch happened at a live concert at the Alliance Française de Bangalore. The four-member band with George Mathen (drums), Rohan Ramesh (bass), Kamal Singh (guitar and vocals) and Abhijeet Tambe (guitar and vocals) will also be embarking on “Going Nowhere Tour ’08” and will perform in six cities in the country. Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Mathen said that the band had been travelling and performing across the country over the past year. “Even when we first started off, we were sure of one thing. We all agreed to play only the music that we wrote,” he said. He said the band would be performing in Hyderabad (October 16), Chennai (October 18), Mumbai (October 21), BITS Pilani (October 22), Delhi (October 23) and Manipal (October 26). “We wanted to keep it small. It has now become a big tour of seven cities. During the tour, we will support sell not only the album, but also some merchandise. The band will be travelling on a tour bus mostly, opting for flights only where the schedule demands it,” he said. The new Lounge Piranha album includes seven tracks titled “Going Nowhere”, “Snakes and Lotuses”, “Eclat”, “Teenage Curse”, “Gun Song”, “Hand hole” and “Ebb”. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
