Kozhikode: A national conference on organic farming in horticultural crops with special reference to plantation crops is being organised from October 15 to 18 at the Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI) in Kasaragod. The crops that will be discussed include coconut, arecanut, cocoa, spices, cashew, oil palm, vegetables and fruit crops, George V. Thomas, Director, CPCRI, said. The event is being organised by the Indian Society for Plantation Crops and the Association for Improvement in Production and Utilisation of Banana. Current status of organic farming at international, national and State levels, soil health management, certification, marketing and interface with farmers are included in the seminar. ExhibitionAn exhibition on organic farming and field visits to organic farms have also been arranged.
