Lipin sparkles for Scorpions

KOCHI: Lipin’s fine all-round performance helped Scorpions CC defeat Sharon CC by five wickets in a rain-hit first round match of the 58th Pooja all-India cricket tournament at the Tripunithura Palace Oval on Monday.

Batting first, local side Sharon CC made 183 with Ajith scoring 72 but after heavy rain, Scorpions’ target was reduced to 114 in 28 overs. The team crossed the mark without much fuss with Lipin, who had taken three wickets earlier, scoring 56.

The scores: Sharon CC, Ekm 183 for nine in 45 overs (Ajith 72) lost to Scorpions CC, Ekm 117 for five in 22.1 overs (Lipin 56). Scorpions’ target reduced to 114 in 28 overs. — Principal Correspondent
