CHENNAI: After similar ventures in Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad, a tennis tournament for corporate houses will be organised in Chennai by the DLF Group beginning October 18. Speaking at the cup unveiling ceremony at a city hotel on Monday, the Chennai head of DLF (Housing), K.K. Raman, said: "tennis is a game of great passion and energy and these are attributes that the DLF Group identifies with. The tournament will enable members of the corporate community to channel their energy and provide a great opportunity for teamwork." Mr. Raman also said that, till now, over 90 players from 40 different companies had registered themselves for participation. The tournament will be conducted at the SDAT Tennis Stadium in Nungambakkam and will take place as per stringent international standards, he added. The chief guest for the evening, Sanmar Group vice-chairman and former All-India Tennis Association vice-president, N. Kumar, lauded the venture and said the event would bring out the best from corporate personnel inclined towards sports. The draws for the tournament will be announced at the SDA stadium on October 17, a day before the event is scheduled to start.
