NEW DELHI: While he is described by the media as one of the best dressed Bollywood actors today, Fardeen Khan himself feels that his aging yet handsome father is the ultimate style icon.

“My father Feroz Khan is certainly the best dressed Bollywood personality. As far as style is concerned, he is a breed apart from his contemporaries. In fact, he is the one who introduced the high fashionable trends of the West to Hindi films. Even at his age, he continues to set the trend,” says young Fardeen, who was in Delhi over the weekend to launch a new showroom.

Stating that he was comfortable in jeans and black T-shirt, Fardeen says black is his favourite colour and he tries not to go over the top as far fashion is concerned: “The whole thing about attire is your attitude and how you carry your clothes.”

Revealing that his films “Dulha Mil Gaya” and “Life Partner” are slated for release next year, Fardeen says they are a mix bag of divergent characters, genres and stories. “Hopefully the film-loving people of this country will find them entertaining. As for not doing well in certain films, it is part and parcel of the trade. If you see any actor’s body of work you will realise that he has had hits as well as flops. The important thing is the process of making movies. If the films don’t do well at the box office, I am definitely disappointed. The actor can go wrong or the creative department can falter. So you have to be humble and take things lying down.”

Revealing that he does a lot of research into his character before essaying it on screen, Fardeen says: “To get into the skin of the character, it is important to know every shade of the fictitious character’s personality. If I am required to be a fashionable guy then I give my own inputs as far as clothing is concerned. Every role is a challenge whether it is ‘No Entry’ or ‘Fida’. ”

Fardeen says he is dying to do a hard-core action movie and also a period thriller. “I have got a couple of ideas in my head and would like to do behind-the-scenes roles. Actually the nature of my work is so hectic that I take two days’ leave to be with my family. Mine is not a fixed office job but a 13-hour job.”

Reminiscing his childhood memories of Delhi, Fardeen says when he used to visit his aunt in Srinagar he would stop over here in the Capital. “This city has wonderful eateries and sprawling malls today. But I detest the traffic of Delhi as it causes inconvenience to commuters,” adds Fardeen, who is inspired by Amitabh Bachchan and, of course, his father.
