Sarda brothers win gold

Chennai: Harshavardhan Sarda and Dhruv Sarda of Delhi clinched the doubles gold medal in the second National tenpin bowling team championships at the Mayajaal, near here on Wednesday.

Srinath Pobbathi and Girish Gaba of Karnataka claimed the silver, while Rahul Solanki and Rajmohan Palaniappan of Tamil Nadu won the bronze.

The Delhi team finished with a team total pinfall of 2,336 to Karnataka’s 2,252.

There was a close contest for the bronze medal with the West Bengal team behind the Tamil Nadu pair by just six pins going into the last game.

West Bengal’s Dilbir Singh and Shantanu failed to rack up high scores in the last game and lost the bronze by 15 pins.

In the men’s All Events, Harshavardhan Sarda (avg. 196.83) was in the lead after six games followed by Dhruv Sarda (192.5) and Rahul Solanki (189.67) of Tamil Nadu.

Pratima Hegde and Swapna Mitra of Karnataka won the gold medal for Karnataka in the women’s doubles event.

Staging a comeback, the Karnataka pair beat the Tamil Nadu pair of Sana Sunny and Sabeena Saleem by 19 pins. The pair of Namrata and Judy of Karnataka won the bronze, 66 pins behind the leaders.

Pratima was in the lead in the women’s All Events, with a total pinfall of 1054 (avg. 175.67) at the end of six games. — Sports Reporter
