Narrow win

Chennai: L. Vignesh and R. Ashwin’s unbeaten 38-run ninth wicket stand took TNCA to a two-wicket win over Hyderabad in the third round of the inter-state South Zone under-22 cricket tournament for the P. Ramachandra Rao Trophy at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Thursday.

Resuming at 112 for eight, the duo needed just 1.5 overs to score the required runs for the win. TNCA now has 16 points after three matches, while Hyderabad has seven.

No play was possible in the remaining two matches due to persistent rain. KSCA and Goa finished with three points and one point respectively, taking their total points to 11 and one respectively. Andhra and Kerala shared a point each, finishing with seven and one respectively.

The scores:

Hyderabad 178 & 129 lost to TNCA 178 & 130 for eight in 57.5 overs.

Kerala 256 drew with Andhra 43 for one in 20 overs.

KSCA 300 for eight declared & 78 for no loss drew with Goa 151.
