CHENNAI: The Sixth Assistant City Civil Court has ordered notice to the DMK general secretary, organising secretary and the Karur district secretary on a suit filed by a party worker seeking a declaration that the nominations received by the district secretary last month for the party’s Kulithalai union posts are not legally valid. In his affidavit, K. Raja of Kandiyur submitted that as per the party rules, he came to the party headquarters in Chennai on September 17 to file his nomination for the post of Kulithalai union treasurer. The organising secretary refused to accept his nomination. Later, he came to know that the district secretary had received nominations for Kulithalai union posts at Karur. The district secretary had no power to receive the nominations and his act went against party rules. He sought a direction to the defendants to fix a fresh date for receiving nominations at the party headquarters. The case has been posted for October 30. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
