Yadav shocks Wijetilak

BANGALORE: Jagdish Yadav upset the former Indian international Ajit Wijetilak 15-21, 23-21, 21-11 to enter the men’s singles semifinals of the Vijayanagar Club’s State ranking badminton championship at the club courts here on Friday.

The other seeded players including Mohit Kamath, B.S. Phalgun and S.D.S. Krishna advanced to the semifinals.

The results (singles): Men: Quarterfinals: Mohit Kamath bt Romit Dodeja 21-11, 21-10 ; K. Jagdish Yadav bt Ajit Wijetilak 15-21, 23-21, 21-11; B.S. Phalgun bt Prateek Khurana 21-19, 19-21, 21-11; S.D.S. Krishna bt Adarsh Kumar 21-5, 21-11.

Women (40 +): Semifinals: C.M. Kaveri bt Rajalakshmi 21-18, 21-13; Elsa Tommy bt H.S. Sujatha 21-18, 21-10.
