Pallavi, Kamini receive Australia scholarship

NEW DELHI: Pallavi Bharadwaj and Thirush Kamini are the first recipients of the Australia-India Council women’s cricket scholarship.

The two players, along with coach Sudha Shah, participated in various skill sessions with the experienced Cricket Centre of Excellence (COE) coaches in Brisbane, according to a release from the Australian High Commission. “This is the first time that the Cricket Australia International Program has been extended to include women athletes. The program will create new linkages between players in Australia and India in women’s cricket,” said the Australian High Commissioner in India, John McCarthy, in the release.

Gautam Gambhir and R.P. Singh are two of the leading Indians who had benefited from the AIC Border-Gavaskar scholarships.
