St. Joseph’s triumphs

VIJAYAWADA: Gunadala’s St. Joseph’s High School defeated Zilla Parishad High School (Kanuru) 11-25, 25-20, 15-13 to lift the girls’ volleyball title in the inter-school sports and games meet organised by NSM Old Students Association at the IGMC Stadium, here on Friday.

VJP & DLB advances

Mangalagiri’s VJP & DLB Degree College scored an eight-wicket victory over Machilipatnam’s The Hindu College to enter the semifinals of the Acharya Nagarjuna University inter-collegiate (East Zone) cricket tournament here on Friday.

The scores: The Hindu College 75 for nine in 15 overs lost to VJP & DLB Degree College 76 for two in 12.4 overs.

Chess selections

The Krishna District Chess Association will conduct district trials to select the under-19 boys and girls teams on October 19 at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium at 9 a.m.

Chess tournament
