Fr. Agnel School posts win

NEW DELHI: Fr. Agnel School recorded a 60-53 victory over Bal Bharati School in the senior boys’ section in the 19th Hansraj Prabhakar Memorial basketball tournament at the Oxford Senior Secondary School courts, here on Saturday.

The results: Boys: Seniors: Montfort School 47 (Vikram 19, Anmol 12) beat Modern School, Barakhamba Road, 16 (Nikhil 10). Sachdeva Public School, Pitampura, 78 (Anshul 23, Anchit 13) beat Oxford School 51 (Kuljeet 15, Prakul 14). Fr. Agnel School 60 (Ankur 17, Wasim 13) beat Bal Bharati School 53 (Shrey 16, Shiva 11). Under-13: Oxford School 58 (Saurav 11, Shubham 11) beat Bal Bharati School 11. Sachdeva Public School 29 (Bhavya 16) beat Bal Bharati School, Pitampura 23.

Girls: Senior: Montfort School 71 (Chinmaye 23, Pooja 12) beat Oxford School 20 (Kashish 11). Sachdeva Public School 41 (Niharika 28) beat Venkateshwar School 24 (Vasudha 12). Under-13: Oxford School 23 beat Venkateshwar School 13. Sachdeva Public School 16 beat Bal Bharati School, Pitampura 15 (Divpreet 10).

Haryana Police will be host the 57th all-India Police Games (wrestling cluster) to be held at Madhuban, Karnal District, from October 21 to 25. Competitions will be held in boxing, gymnastics, judo, wrestling (freestyle and Greco-Roman) and weightlifting.

Government Sarvodya School, Possangipur beat Laxman Public School, Hauz Khas by 34 runs in the Gatarode School under-16 cricket league.

The scores: Government Sarvodya School, Possangipur 138 in 40 overs (Deepak Kumar 36) beat Laxman Public School, Hauz Khas 104 in 38 overs (Mohit Pawal 33, Vinayak Mahajan four for 16); Hansraj School, Punjabi Bagh 291 in 40 overs (Prashant Bhandari 145 runs, Dharmender Sharma 70, Mayank Goswami 35, Dharmender Katyal four for 30, Heman Kaushal three for 25) beat GD Goenka International School, Vasant Kunj 130 in 30 overs; Ganga International School 200 for nine in 40 overs (Digvijay Sherawat 75, Mohit Kumar 53, K. Vishal three for 19) beat Ravindra Public School 116 in 28 overs.

The fifth inter-school hockey tournament, organised by the Modern School Old Students Association, will be played at the Modern School, Barakhamba Road, from Oct. 20 to 24.

The tournament will be played in the u-18 and 15 age groups. Teams will compete on a league cum knock-out basis.

Montfort School will meet Father Agnel School in the final of schoolboys section of the 47th Royal Club basketball tournament. In Friday’s matches, Montfort beat G. D. Goenka School 73-39 while Father Agnel beat Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, 69-46.

The results: Schoolboys: Montfort 73 (Deepanshu 24, Arman 14, Vikram 13) beat G. D. Goenka School 39; Father Agnel School 69 (Pulkit 24, Ankur 18, Mohammed Washu 18) beat DPS 46 (Naveen 13, Vinay 12).

College women: Jesus and Mary 45 (Prachi 14, Harjeet 11) beat Kirori Mal 14.

Poojashree Venkatesh, Gopika Kapoor, Ratnika Batra and Soniya Dayal have been given wild cards for the DSCL National women’s tennis championship to be played at the DLTA Complex from Monday.

Shalini Sahoo, Asha Nandakumar, Sweta Kumari Solanki, Sonal Phadke, Arushi Sharma, Kesika Jayabalan, Treta Bhattacharya, Jilke Nelord, Shilpi Jaiswal, Rishika Sunkara, Geeta Manohar, Sagarika Phadke are some of the players scheduled to figure directly in the main draw.
