HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is treating ‘ Vijay Sankalp’ rally to be addressed by former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani in the city on November 13 as a prestigious event and a “mini test” of its popularity in the run-up to the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. According to State BJP president, Bandaru Dattatreya, the party’s State executive meeting held on Sunday mainly focussed on preparations for elections and felt that the party should occupy maximum political space. Central pointThe central point in this direction would be the Vijay Sankalp Yatra as people from the nook and corner of the State would be mobilised for the public meeting.g that Telangana formation would be a major plank, he said there was a need for all parties supporting the cause of a separate State to come onto a single platform. It was too early to talk of alliances, he quipped when asked about the possibility of BJP and Nava Telangana Praja Party of T. Devender Goud. IsolatedBandaru Dattatreya said that with the 2004 allies parting ways with it, the Congress would be isolated in next elections. The emergence of Praja Rajyam in the State would help the BJP to consolidate the position of NDA at the national level. Meanwhile, Mr. Advani would be in city on a private visit on October 23 for the release of the Telugu version of his autobiographical narrative, ‘ My Country, My Life’ by Chief Editor of Eenadu Group Ch.Ramoji Rao. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
