HYDERABAD: The general council meeting of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) Agents Organisation of India here on Sunday decided to affiliate the body with the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) which is the trade union wing of CPI (M). The meeting was attended by 150 national council members of the organisation from 21 States. They were elected to the council in Chennai in January. Briefing reporters about the outcome of the meeting, A.V. Bellarmin, CPI (M) MP from Tamil Nadu, who is the vice-president of the organisation, and other leaders said the body had been functioning independently since its inception five years ago. They claimed membership of two of the twelve lakh LIC agents in the country.
