Raj moves court for stay on arrest warrant

Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray has moved the Jharkhand High Court seeking a stay on a non-bailable arrest warrant issued by a court in Jamshedpur against him for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Biharis.

The High Court in Ranchi has posted the matter for hearing on October 25, his lawyer Akhilesh Choubey said here. The court did not grant him interim protection from arrest. The Jamshedpur judicial magistrate A.K. Tiwari issued the warrant on September 30 asking Mr. Thackeray to appear before him on November 17. — PTI
