THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The activist groups behind the long-drawn-out agitation that forced the closure of the Coca-Cola bottling plant at Plachimada in Palakkad have urged the government to set up a high power committee headed by a High Court judge to decide on the compensation the multi-national company should pay for the environmental damage the bottling plant had caused to the area. They submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, V.S. Achuthanandan and Water Resources Minister N.K. Premachandran on Monday. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
