Six killed in road accident in Khammam district

KHAMMAM: Six persons, including two children, were killed and 24 others injured, as a mini-truck in which they were travelling overturned near Mudigonda village in Khammam district in the wee hours on Tuesday.

The vehicle overturned while negotiating a curve. Many people landed on the sharp edges of granite slabs abandoned on the roadside by nearby factories.

Some of them trapped under the plastic sheets were saved and rushed to the hospital.

According to reports, some 30 members left Sattenapalli in two mini trucks around 12 p.m. One of the vehicles broke down after travelling some distance.

As a result, they all boarded the other vehicle which lost control. Those trapped under the vehicle were heard crying for help.

Thee members of one family – Vetagiri Peda Urumulaiah, 28, wife Vetagiri Madhavi, 25, and their six-year-old daughter, Anitha, died before the arrival of the police.

So was the case with another couple Ravuri Ankamrao, 34, and Anasuya. Another seven-year-old boy killed in the accident was identified as Merda Ravi.
