Venting their ire: Members of Lok Janshakti Party protesting in New Delhi on Tuesday against the attack on North Indians in Maharashtra.

NEW DELHI: Workers of Lok Janshakti Party and Dalit Sena held a demonstration at Jantar Mantar here on Tuesday protesting against recent attacks on North Indians in Maharashtra.

The protesters took out a “lathi rally” and burnt effigies of Raj Thackeray and Bal Thackeray, accusing them of fomenting regional and linguistic divide. Dalit Sena president Ram Chandra Paswan and LJP vice-president Shoaib Iqbal said the assaults on unemployed young men had made a mockery of the law and order machinery in the State. The party demanded that the Shiv Sena and the supporters of Raj Thackeray who were involved in the violence be booked under the National Security Act.
