NEW DELHI: An all-round performance by Yogesh Nagar (109 not out and four for 50) helped Delhi to a three-wicket victory over Punjab in the Vinoo Mankad under-19 cricket tournament at Patiala. The scores: Punjab 206 in 48.5 overs (Pary Goyal 55, Yuvraj 27, Yogesh Nagar four for 50, Manan Sharma three for 33, Vikram three for 33) lost to Delhi 207 for seven in 48.3 overs (Yogesh Nagar 109 not out, Tejasvi Yadav 30). Umed nets winnerUmed Yadav struck the match-winner as Glorious Club beat Punjab Heroes 1-0 in a group ‘A’ match of the DSA ‘B’ division football league at the Race Course ground here on Wednesday. Glorious has enhanced its chance of qualification for the super-league by taking its tally to 13 points from five matches, while Punjab Heroes has five points from five games. In another match in group ‘A’, Robert found the crucial goal as Venus Club prevailed over New Friends Club 1-0. Venus has 10 points and New Friends four points, from five matches each. In group ‘C’, Delhi Students outplayed Young Sports Club 8-0, after leading 3-0 at the interval. Gulabi Bagh Club was awarded a walk-over as South India failed to report for the match. Modern School girls triumphModern School (Barakhamba Road) beat Oxford School 25-7 to win the girls’ under-13 title in the Hans Raj Prabhakar memorial basketball tournament here. Aastha (14) excelled for the winner. The boys’ under-13 title went to Oxford School which beat Modern (BK) 39-33. Sourav top scored for Oxford with 13 points. In senior boys, Monfort School retained the title with a 60-28 win over Sachdeva Public School. Niharika (22) was the best scorer for the winner. The following were adjudged the best players in their sections: Aastha (girls’ under-13), Saurav Yadav (boys’ under-13), Chinmayee (senior girls) and Vikram (senior boys). Easy for Cambridge FSCambridge Foundation School, Rajouri Garden defeated Greenfield School, Safdarjung Development Area by nine wickets in the Gatorade under-16 school cricket league here. The scores: On Tuesday: Greenfield School 86 in 29.2 overs (Ashish Gehlot three for 15) lost to Cambridge Foundation 87 for one in 12 overs (Raghav Khera 32 not out). Ramjas School, Patel Nagar 136 for three in 28 overs (Kandvil 38, Shahil Khan 48) beat MRB School Meera Bagh 135 in 40 overs (Ganesh Mor 35). On Wednesday: J.D. Tytler School, Rajinder Nagar 91 for six in 22 overs (Samaksh Prabhat three for 22) beat Doon School, Paschim Vihar 90 in 28 overs (Anurag Dabas 28). Ravi Kumar wins 800m titleRavi Kumar of Delhi won the boys under-16 800 metres title in the sixth National inter-District athletics meet in Haridwar on Wednesday.
