West Godavari takes title

VIJAYAWADA: West Godavari defeated Guntur 15-7 in the final of the AP State women inter-district handball championship at Chilumuru in Guntur District, according to information reaching here on Wednesday.

Earlier, in the semifinals, Guntur outplayed Vizag 11-5, while West Godavari blanked Hyderabad 9-0.

Ranga Reddy defeated Srikalulam 1-0, while Adilabad beat Nalgonda 2-0 in the league fixtures of the 54th AP State School Games U-17 girls’ football tournament at the IGMC Stadium here on Wednesday. City mayor Mallikha Begum inaugurated the three-day tournament.

The results (league): Adilabad bt Nalgonda 2-0; Chittoor bt Nizamabad 1-0; Krishna bt Prakasam 3-0; Ranga Reddy bt Srikakulam 1-0; Ananatapur drew with Srikakulam 0-0. — Sports Reporter
