Brinda: ban Bajrang Dal

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Rajya Sabha was adjourned briefly after Brinda Karat (Communist Party of India – Marxist) demanded the banning of Bajrang Dal and Hindu Jagran Manch for their alleged involvement in the Malegaon and Modasa blasts while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protested her observations.

Speaking during Zero Hour, Ms. Karat referred to newspapers reports that quoted the Maharashtra Police as claiming the involvement of the Bajrang Dal in the two blasts. In Tami Nadu, the police believes, Hindu extremist outfits were responsible for the Tenkasi blasts.

“There can’t be different yardsticks for dealing with terror,” she said while opposing the branding of an entire community as terrorist following recent bomb blasts.

Ms. Karat also upbraided the media for painting the incidents in a manner that serves to alienate an entire community.
