Law students attack Sri Lankan Deputy High Commission

CHENNAI: A group of students of the Madras Law College attacked the Sri Lankan Deputy High Commission at Teynampet here on Thursday causing damage to property and injuring a staff member. They raised slogans condemning the killing of Tamils in Sri Lanka.

Issue raised with authorities

Deputy High Commissioner for Sri Lanka P.M. Amza told The Hindu that some youths attacked the security post and tried to forcibly enter the premises. They threw stones, one of which hit a staff member. “We have taken up the issue with the Indian authorities,” he said.

Seventeen students were arrested and later let on bail.
