ARIYALUR: M. Vigneshwar of Phoenix Athletics Club in the boys’ U-18 triple jump and K. Subashini of St. Joseph’s Prime Sports Academy in the girls’ under-14 shot put set new meet records on the opening day of the State junior athletics championship, organised by the Perambalur District Athletics Association, here on Thursday. Vigneshwar had a leap of 14.83m to erase the old record of 14.56m set by Vinoth Raj, while Subashini’s 9.58m effort bettered the old record of 9.24m set by Lakshmipriya.
