Divij Sharan in semifinals

NEW DELHI: Divij Sharan defeated Abdul-Mumin Babalola of Nigeria 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 to move into the semifinals of the $15,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament in Lagos, Nigeria, on Thursday.

Two other Indians, P.C. Vignesh and R.M. Ranjeet lost in the pre-quarterfinals. The third-seeded Andreas Haider-Maurer of Austria beat Ranjeet 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 while the seventh-seeded Valentin Sanon of Ivory Coast beat Vignesh 6-2, 6-2.

In the doubles quarterfinals, the top-seeded Pavel Chekhov of Russia and Pavel Katliarov of Belaurs beat Vignesh and Ranjeet 6-3, 6-3.
