Diamond jubilee celebrations

KOZHIKODE: Industries Minister Elamaram Karim will inaugurate the diamond jubilee celebrations of the M.A.M. Upper Primary School Parambilkadavu here on October 27.

U.C. Raman, MLA, will preside over the programme. A colourful procession will precede the inaugural function, school authorities said.

The school was set up by a group of youngsters, inspired by the freedom struggle, in a temporary shed at Parambil village in Kuruvattur grama panchayat in 1949. In 1956 it shifted to its own building.

There are more than 1200 students and 43 students in the school now.

Year-long programmes are planned in connection with the anniversary.
